    Cosmetic Dentistry- Part Three

    How To Evaluate Your Smile

Look in the mirror with a good light. Does your smile look like it should?

You may not know all the ‘ins and outs’ of smile evaluation, but like most people you can recognize if it could be better.

Look at the color- are your teeth dark or stained? Today just about everyone can have whiter, brighter teeth and it doesn’t matter how old you are. You can’t be too old.

In fact, many of our patients demanding smile enhancements are in their 70’s and 80’s. When asked, “why now“, they have said they always wanted to improve their smile but something had always been in the way. Almost all have commented on how they wish they had done it 20-30 years ago. They now realize what they missed and could have enjoyed years earlier.

Are your teeth worn?… Misshaped?… are your old black and brown fillings “uglying” up your mouth?… Are there gaps?… Missing teeth?

The smile doesn’t stop at the front, you know. Do you have dark fillings in the side teeth that look gray or worse, black  when you smile? If you have replacement teeth, do they look natural? Too white? Or fake?

Now…compare your smile to people to the people considered beautiful in magazines. Not because you want a Hollywood smile, (and we can do that, too) but to see how much difference there is between your smile and these pictures. This requires some courage.

Chances are you could be helped.”

Can You Grin and Say Cheese With Ease?

Can you give a big, huge smile in pictures taken of you? Many, many people are inhibited from smiling this way, but should be able to.

Do you limit your smile in pictures?

Do you not want pictures made of you because you don’t like how they look? Tired of saying, “I make really bad pictures, or I’m not photogenic?” …when in truth you’d really like to be photographed?

    Do You Show Enough Teeth?

Don’t show enough teeth? We can make you look younger, by showing more teeth when you smile.  One of the ways other people evaluate your age is based on how much teeth you show when you smile. If you show little, or worse, no teeth, the mental calculation others make is “little or no teeth equals old”. It isn’t done consciously.

It is unconscious… but nevertheless it still happens.

“I had lost some teeth because of disease in my gums and the problem was getting worse…then I went to Dr. Fry at Making “Smiles” Happen. The treatment was wonderful and didn’t hurt at all.”
    Nancy W.

Do You Show Too Much Gum, Too Little Teeth?

Many times the problems with smiles aren’t with your teeth, but with your gums! Showing too much gum or too little can really mess up a smile.

We have gum solutions that can make a real difference by reducing the amount of gum that shows or adding to it.

Even If You Don’t Know What You Don’t Like About Your Smile, We Can

You may only want a bit of enhancement. Great. We love being able to make a big difference in smiles with just a little treatment. In fact, it is one of our most enjoyable treatments.

Having a Great Smile Could Change Your Life!!!

Many, many times we create great smiles for our patients and then a few months later, major positive life changes occur.

One lady, unmarried but attractive except for her teeth… underwent
comprehensive treatment, replacing missing teeth, rebuilding her bite with dental implants and creating a gorgeous smile. She was ecstatic with her results. A few months later, she was dating the man of her dreams. A year and a half later, she’s married and getting more out of her life than ever.

We had one gentleman; he’s in his mid 30’s, single. He had less than pleasing teeth. I guess you could say he was “smile challenged”. He got his smile makeover. He then went on a diet, lost a bunch of weight and within a year was engaged and got a big promotion.

Many times patients don’t see the connection between getting their radiant, bright smiles and their changes in life for the better. That’s ok. We still get to enjoy seeing our patients do better, for our work not only positively impacts our patients directly, but also indirectly all those people our patients touch.

    Everyone wins.

Another man, mid 50’s, with a dental disaster had a smile make-over. Even before we could totally complete his work, he spent the best two-week vacation in his life with his wife.

“I had been terrified of going to the dentist for as long as I could remember. The older I got, the worse my fears got, so I simply quit going. Needless to say, my teeth and gums steadily deteriorated to the point where I had no choice but to do something. Dr. Fry and his staff performed extensive dental work on me and I can honestly say I experienced little to no discomfort. Dr. Fry has truly given me something to smile about and something to smile with.”
    John P.

One lady, in her late 70’s came in once for some work. I mistakenly assumed she’s wanting minimal dentistry. She told me she wanted optimum care, quite stridently in fact. Today, almost 10 years later, she is doing quite well, thank you, and smiling a lot.

As an aside, we have noticed that our patients who really get their teeth healthy and looking good not only seem to enjoy their lives better but also are healthier, have fewer illnesses as they grow older and seem to live longer.

Another girl, in her 20’s, her teeth were too dark, one tooth was really dark in the front. With a few simple treatments, her teeth are white…her dark tooth is no longer. She got married shortly thereafter!

We have case after case after case of our patients doing better, enjoying life more and getting what they really want out of life after getting their great smiles.

“You are clearly dedicated to providing state-of-the-art service. That is
a rare and wonderful thing, and it makes visiting the Dentist office (of all places!) a pleasure. To anyone looking for dentistry the way it out to be done, I recommend you highly.”
